Introduction to Adidas Running Shoes

The Adidas brand is synonymous with performance and style, especially when it comes to running shoes. Founded in Germany in 1949 by Adolf Dassler, Adidas has grown into one of the most recognizable athletic brands in the world. Known for combining function with fashion, Adidas running shoes are designed to help athletes of all levels meet their goals.

Adidas is dedicated to creating innovative technologies to enhance running performance. Key features found across many Adidas running shoe models include:

  • Lightweight construction to promote natural foot movement
  • Breathable uppers to keep feet cool and dry
  • Midsole cushioning for shock absorption and energy return
  • Durable outsoles with traction for varied terrain
  • Supportive technology for pronation or supination
  • Sleek style you can wear on and off the run

The Adidas running line has shoes engineered for neutral runners, overpronators, and underpronators. Models range from lightweight racing flats to cushioned trainers and trail runners. Core technologies like Boost foam or bouncy Lightstrike propel you forward with responsive energy return.

Adidas pairs performance with bold style in eye-catching colorways and prints. Many shoes incorporate Primeknit uppers that move naturally with your foot. Running doesn’t have to be boring in Adidas shoes designed to help you feel fast and look good.

Duramo Sl 2.0 Features

The adidas Duramo Sl 2.0 is designed to be an ultralight running shoe that still provides support and comfort. Some of the key features include:

Lightweight, Breathable Upper

The upper uses a combination of mesh and textile materials to create a lightweight, breathable upper. The open mesh allows for plenty of airflow to keep your feet cool and comfortable even during long runs. The materials are also soft against the skin to prevent irritation. At the same time, overlays provide structure and support around the midfoot to lockdown the foot.

adiPRENE Cushioning

The midsole utilizes adiPRENE foam which offers responsive cushioning and absorbs shock on impact. This helps protect your feet and joints from the repetitive forces experienced during running. The foam runs the full length of the shoe to maintain comfort.

Rubber Outsole

The outsole is constructed from rubber with a traction pattern that grips surfaces nicely. The rubber is also durable to withstand miles of use. Flex grooves allow the shoe to move naturally with the foot through the gait cycle.

Overall, the adidas Duramo Sl 2.0 finds a nice balance between being lightweight and minimal for speed while still offering cushioning and support where you need it. The breathable upper and responsive midsole come together to create a comfortable ride.

Design and Materials

The adidas Duramo Sl 2.0 has a sleek, supportive design and is made using high-quality materials. The upper is constructed of mesh and textile which provides breathability and flexibility. Mesh fabric allows airflow to keep your feet cool and dry while textile overlays give the upper structure and support.

The outsole of the Duramo Sl 2.0 utilizes adidas’ durable rubber compound for excellent traction. Rubber outsoles are a popular choice for running shoes since they grip surfaces well and stand up to repeated pavement impact. The rubber sole also has flex grooves that promote a natural foot-strike and smooth transition through your gait cycle.

The combination of breathable mesh, supportive textile overlays and grippy rubber make the Duramo Sl 2.0 an intelligently designed shoe for logging miles. These high-quality materials come together to create a durable and comfortable running shoe.

LightMotion Cushioning for Ultra Lightweight Comfort

The Duramo Sl 2.0 features adidas’ proprietary LightMotion cushioning technology in the midsole. This innovative cushioning system uses lightweight and responsive foam to provide a smooth, comfortable feel during your run.

LightMotion foam is approximately 30% lighter than standard EVA foam, allowing adidas to drastically reduce the overall weight of the shoe without sacrificing cushioning and shock absorption. The foam is also designed to maintain its cushioning properties even after hundreds of miles, so you can count on the same responsive feel throughout the lifespan of the shoe.

In addition, LightMotion technology provides excellent energy return with each footstrike, helping to propel you forward. The foam compresses upon impact then springs back rapidly to return energy into your stride. This makes running in the Duramo Sl 2.0 feel fast, smooth and efficient.

The LightMotion midsole works in conjunction with the mesh upper to provide a supportive yet barely-there feel. Reviewers praise the Duramo Sl 2.0 for providing featherlight comfort that encourages a natural running gait. The ultra lightweight profile makes the shoe disappear underneath your foot, allowing you to focus on your run.

Sizing and Fit

The adidas Duramo Sl 2.0 running shoe runs true to size for most runners. It has a wide toe box to allow your toes to splay naturally when running. The forefoot is roomy without feeling sloppy.

The Duramo Sl 2.0 features a standard medium width through the midfoot. Some testers noted the upper fits a bit snug when new, but it breaks in after a few runs. The lacing system allows you to customize the fit through the midfoot as needed.

The heel cup provides a secure lockdown that helps prevent slipping during runs. The collar around the ankle is lightly padded without being restrictive. Overall, the Duramo Sl 2.0 offers a comfortable, accommodating fit while still providing a locked-in feel.

The roomy toe box combined with the secure midfoot and heel make this a great option for runners with wider feet or who prefer some extra room to allow natural foot splaying and swelling. The Duramo Sl 2.0 runs true to size for most in terms of length. Going up half a size is an option if you prefer a more relaxed fit or have wider feet.

Best Uses

The adidas Women’s Duramo Sl 2.0 is designed for road running and training. With its lightweight and responsive build, it’s an ideal choice for runners looking to go fast on asphalt and cement surfaces.

The super-lightweight LightMotion cushioning allows for a fast heel-to-toe transition that supports midfoot strikers. The minimal yet supportive upper also ensures your feet can move naturally without restriction. While flexible and not overly structured, the mesh upper still provides the foot-hugging fit needed for quick lateral movements and changes in direction.

Many runners love the Duramo SL 2.0 for 5K, 10K and half marathon racing. The lightweight responsiveness helps you feel fast and efficient when trying to hit new PRs. The neutral platform also caters to a wide variety of foot types, making this a versatile option for many runners.

For track workouts focused on speed, the Duramo SL 2.0 provides just enough cushioning to protect your feet during interval training, without compromising ground feel. The thin yet responsive foam helps you stay connected to the road surface.

While best for road running and training, the grippy rubber outsole does allow for the occasional trail run on packed dirt or gravel paths. Just don’t expect heavy traction and protection on technical trails.

If you’re looking for a durable everyday running shoe that can pick up the pace when needed, the Duramo SL 2.0 is a great option for runners seeking a lightweight and natural ride.

Comparable Shoes

The adidas Women’s Duramo Sl 2.0 is most comparable to neutral cushioned running shoes from other major brands like Brooks and Nike.

Compared to the Brooks Ghost 14, the Duramo Sl 2.0 has a slightly more supportive upper with some structural overlays around the midfoot. However, it has a simpler two-layer midsole versus the segmented crash pad in the Ghost. The Brooks uses more traditional EVA foam while the adidas relies on its responsive LightMotion foam. Overall, the Ghost 14 provides a softer underfoot feel.

The Nike Air Zoom Pegasus 38 is another apt comparison as a go-to daily trainer. The Pegasus uses a soft foam similar to Brooks, so the adidas will feel more responsive by comparison. The Pegasus also has a wider fit in the toe box for a more accommodating upper. The Duramo Sl 2.0 runs slightly heavier than the svelte Pegasus.

In terms of purpose, the adidas Duramo Sl 2.0 competes directly as a reliable, lightweight neutral trainer. It offers a firmer ride than Brooks or Nike but provides a secure supportive fit. The LightMotion foam gives it a propulsive feel ideal for uptempo training or moderate distance racing.

Customer Reviews

The adidas Duramo Sl 2.0 has received largely positive reviews from runners. On adidas.com, the shoe has a 4.7 star rating out of over 300 reviews, indicating most customers have been very satisfied with the performance and fit of this running shoe.

Many reviewers comment on how lightweight and breathable the upper feels. The mesh material provides ventilation to keep feet cool and comfortable even during long runs. Reviewers also frequently mention the excellent cushioning from the LightMotion midsole which provides a responsive, springy feel underfoot without extra weight.

Several users say the Duramo Sl 2.0 provides good support for neutral runners. The midsole cushioning paired with the stabilizing midfoot frame offers a supportive platform without any corrective features that could interfere with natural foot motion. The minimal 10mm heel-to-toe drop encourages a natural foot strike.

When it comes to sizing and fit, most reviews indicate the shoe runs true to size. A handful of customers mention the toe box feels narrow, so this may not be the best option for wide feet. The upper material has very little structure, however, allowing it to conform closely to the shape of the foot.

Potential downsides mentioned by some users include minimal stability features, lack of reflectivity for low light running, and concerns about long term durability. However, the majority of customers report being very happy with the comfort, performance, and value offered by the Duramo Sl 2.0.

5.0 out of 5 stars Pleasantly surprisedReviewed in the United States on January 16, 2022

Size: 6.5Color: Core Black/Core Black/Iron MetallicVerified Purchase

First impression on trying on: comfortable, light, but that didn’t convince me that these would be okay for running. I have a hard time finding shoes for running. They must be lightweight, flexible, and most of all, must not attempt to mold my feet one way or the other. After years of being told that I need this support or that correction, I’ve found that a shoe that protects my foot from the elements, but does not otherwise impede or “help” me is best. These shoes are not it, so I expected that some pain or discomfort will manifest once I start exercising. I initially just walked and found them comfortable. The toe box has ample space while still looking attractive and the general shape/curve works well for me. I’ve already decided to keep them because they look good with jeans/shorts/sweats.

Then as I was heading out to the gym and reaching for my old shoes, I decided to wear these. My gym is a garage gym so if my feet started hurting I could just take them off or switch without sacrificing my workout time. If I went to a commercial gym I’d be sure to pack a change of shoes just in case. Well, one of the sure fire tests is the elliptical as the ankle and foot flexes more than jogging. I had an excellent cardio workout, no pain, no complaints. Followed by other exercises. I’m happy and confident to wear them on a street run.

The price is excellent too, what is going on with sneakers prices lately?

5.0 out of 5 stars Great support & give. Perfect for wide feet. Runs a little big.

I have been an Adidas fan since I was a kid. They have different width options, which is rare these days. Or if you do find a wider width they are usually very plain or clunky. I usually have good luck with Adidas & fell in love with the Falcons ( purchased several colors). This style is light, supportive of the arch & heal and is stylish as well. However, after trying them on and walking around the house ; the heel kept slipping & there was too much room above my toes. For me, they run about a half size too big. I’m going to exchange them for a different size and hopefully they will have more color options soon!
